Seattle Motorcycle Travel Guide: 7 Stops for Your PNW Trip

Seattle, Washington's landscape has water, mountains, evergreen trees—and lots of motorcycles exploring it all. There are so many amazing places to see in Seattle that it was hard to narrow it down. We highly suggest you rent a motorcycle in Seattle from Twisted Road to explore this part of the Pacific Northwest ASAP!

1. Backfire Moto

Started by three friends with a dream of a casual motorcycle meet-up spot, Backfire has become an easy monthly routine for local riders who enjoy communing with others. The founders describe it like this: "We blast Punk Rock into the crowd of greasy shop talking zombies as they hang out smoking cigars, drinking beer and exchanging important gas soaked information. Hundreds of bikes line the streets for blocks."

Join the group every third Wednesday starting at 4:00 p.m. (rain or shine) "'til the last moto pulls away," to meet like-minded moto enthusiasts for a fun "fueled" event in the Seattle motorcycle scene.

2. Ballard Farmers Market

This year-round neighborhood farmer's market is full of fresh produce from Washington state farmers. The market is located in the historic cobblestone stretch of Ballard Avenue NW between Vernon Place and 22nd Avenue. Here you can find fruit, veggies, herbs, flowers, dairy, eggs, some insanely delicious mini doughnuts, and more—all of which is perfect for tossing into saddlebags for an impromptu picnic on your Seattle motorcycle riding route.

3. Raised Donuts

Speaking of doughnuts—Raised Donuts features flavors of the month in addition to some originals that, thankfully, are always on the menu. Fresh non-traditional doughnut ingredients include corn, sesame, and bacon, and be on the lookout for one savory flavor to balance the sweet/savory scale. Don't forget to pick up one specially made for your four-legged bestie.

Motorcycles + coffee + baked goods + snacks + beers = yes please! The place where moto-minded people gather for shop-talking, route-sharing and motorcycle-showing. It's a must-stop for your Seattle motorcycle trip.

5. Smarty Pants

With local beers on tap, homemade grilled sandwiches, soups, and salads (with house-made dressing, natch), Smarty Pants is one fresh neighborhood hangout. Be sure to check out their Sunday brunch, pre-mixed cocktails, and Bike Night every Wednesday, featuring motorcycle races on the big screen.

6. Motoshed Seattle

Seattle's vintage motorcycle shop, Motoshed, focuses on pre-1980s Japanese motorcycles (but they love to work on "most anything old and carbureted). The team will offer tire and oil changes on most bikes, but they don't work on modern Sport Bikes with plastic fairings. They also firmly believe in the DIY ethos but are available to lend a hand on your motorcycle projects—big or small.

7. Derby Restaurant

It is an amazing in-house restaurant that is open to the public despite its location within a private club. Chef Nick prepares classic comfort foods "with the best meats and produce that Washington has to offer." If you fancy a nip, check out their Northwest beers and bourbon, as well as their large selection of scotch. Just reading the menu makes us hungry; try Matt's Bad Ass Bacon, the Nashville Hot Chicken Sandwich, or Braised Short Rib Hash, and let us know how they were.

Derby is located inside The Shop —a state-of-the-art facility for Seattle motorcycle and car enthusiasts to indulge all aspects of their passion, together.
