Sander S. tells Twisted Road about riding on the road, off the road, and the many open roads he dreams of riding on—well, there are actually too many to name.
Tell us about your riding experience. How long have you been riding, and how many bikes have you owned? How did you first become interested in riding?
I've been riding for almost 20 years and I've owned 12 motorcycles. I was always a car guy but my sister always had the dream to ride a Harley. She wanted to start practicing for her license and wanted someone to join her, she wouldn't do it alone. She quit after 3 lessons because she found it too scary and I loved it and got my license.
Have you taken any long moto trips? Tell us about them: where did you go, where did you stay, who did you ride with?
My longest trip was off-roading in Colorado -- with about 3 miles of off-road experience before I went. After 4 days, I decided it was enough and I rode back to Chicago solo. I've also done a fair bit of riding in The Netherlands and some in Germany.
Tell us some more about you - where do you live? What kind of work do you do?
I currently live in The Netherlands after living in Chicago for 4 years. I've always worked in the automotive and related industries. Currently, I am the after sales director for a tractor importer in The Netherlands.
What are your hobbies - what do you enjoy doing when you're not riding?
Basketball, hiking, and watching movies with my son.
Tell us about your experiences with Twisted Road, as either an owner, as a rider, or both. What do you enjoy most about being part of our community?
The only experience I have had so far is as a renter with Austin R. He seems like a great guy and I enjoy tracking what Twisted Road is accomplishing. Hopefully I can take advantage of the services once I get the opportunity to return to the US.
What are your favorite rides near your hometown?
In the Netherlands, there are lots of rivers. The rivers are always bordered by levies and on these levies are roads. These are usually wonderfully twisty and you have amazing views along the way.
Last question: where do you hope to ride one day?
It would be easier to answer if the question was "where not?"
