“The Bagger IS the new Hot Rod”, and the Road Glide Special is no exception to that rule. In fact, it exemplifies it. It’s a sleek, low profile, ‘’minimalist” bagger that tells the world that you’re more interested in the ride than all the “bells & whistles”. Underneath, it’s exactly the same as a Street Glide. The difference is in the shape of the fairing, where that fairing is mounted and the shape of the handlebars. The timeless Road Glide fairing has been the “Tourer’s Touring bike” since its introduction in 1980. (it was called a “Tour Glide” then) You may ask, “how will that fairing compare to the ‘batwing’ I’m used to?”. There are several differences. While the Road Glide weighs about the same as a Street Glide, it “carries” that weight differently. It feels “lighter” in the front end, in all situations, whether in the mountains, on the open road, or in a parking lot, since the fairing is mounted to the frame and “below the waist”. Also, it tends to be a more stable ride at highway speed due in part to its shape, but also the mounting. Adverse wind conditions do not affect the motorcycle as much as the other bikes in our Grand Touring fleet. The difference is relatively negligible, but it’s there. Additionally, the bars on the Road Glide Special are a bit “closer” and less “aggressive” than those on a Street Glide for a more “laid back” riding position. Whether you’re solo or “two up” Grand Touring regionally, OR across this great land of ours, the Road Glide WILL get the job done without the “frills” that would push it over the 900 lb bar. We stepped the game up a bit on ours. We went ahead and installed some nice aftermarket mufflers, so . . . unlike most “rental bikes”, you won’t feel like you’re on a “rental bike”. Don’t worry . . . nothing obnoxious, they just “sound like Harley’s”. THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THIS MOTORCYCLE: • The Road Glide Special, with its low-profile seat, may not be quite as comfy for a passenger, but it DOES make the reach to the ground considerably easier for folks with inseams in the 28” and under range. • ALL of our Road Glide Specials are equipped with a passenger backrest, as well as a luggage rack to accommodate gear for those longer hauls. If you don’t want, or need it, we’ll gladly stow it here until you get back. Your choice. • Our Road Glide Special Motorcycles ARE equipped with onboard AM/FM Touch Screen infotainment systems with GPS. These systems are compatible, through USB, with APPLE or ANDROID devices, but YOU will need to bring your own USB “A” cable with you to connect your device. • Road Glide Special motorcycles are equipped with a Linked Anti-lock braking system, as well as electronic cruise control.

Matt at Smokey Mountain HD was awesome. Got the Road Glide. He mapped out on the NAV my route Cherohalla Skyway to tail of the dragon to the foothills back to the dealer. It was an amazing trip. I recommend to anyone who is an experienced rider. This is not for the novice. Riding in the mountains requires highly skilled riders.
