My recent 4-day rental through Twisted Road resulted in a highly frustrating and concerning experience. I believe the platform's current procedures leave riders vulnerable to unfair damage claims from owners. I rented a motorcycle for a 4-day trip and returned it in the same condition it was received. The core issue is that the owner did not follow the documented procedure of inspecting the bike at the time of return and notifying me of any potential issues. Instead, the owner later claimed cosmetic damage after the return was complete and I had departed. The platform's process failed to protect me as the renter. Because the rider is not currently required to take and upload photos at pick-up or drop-off, and without a written sign-off from both parties, there is no objective, time-stamped evidence to counter the owner’s claim. To protect riders from these potentially fraudulent claims and to improve transparency, I urge Twisted Road to implement the following mandatory procedural changes: Mandatory Rider Verification: The app must require the rider to take and upload timestamped photos/video of the motorcycle's condition at both pick-up and drop-off. Dual-Party Agreement: A digital form should be completed and approved by both the rider and the owner at the time of return, explicitly stating that the bike has been returned without new damage, or detailing any new damage agreed upon by both parties. Real-Time Inspection Enforcement: The rule requiring the owner to inspect and notify the rider of damage at the time of return must be strictly enforced. Allowing claims to be filed days later severely lacks transparency and opens the door to abuse. Until these procedural gaps are closed, I cannot recommend the service, as riders are currently left exposed to these types of disputes.
