Used for light commuting. Sounds amazing. Massive torque. Feels planted. Single-seater. Garaged 100%. 91 octane always. Developed by Aprilia Racing with the one and only Max Biaggi. There’s a reason why this bike wins motorcycle of the year so often. Hint: It's a fire-breathing race-beast with a V4 engine, but doesn't look it. Things to consider before booking: 1) She feels very different from stock (i.e. not neutered). Maybe you're thinking of buying a Tuono. Maybe you have one of your own but aren't sure of what mods to get. Either way, renting is a great way to test out a kitted Tuono to feel what the bike can become after a few tasteful mods. 2) She has a lot of power. I mean a lot lot. If you’ve never been on a liter bike or you have under 3 years of riding experience, then this bike is not for you just yet - but your time will come! 3) She only has a left-hand mirror fitted so checking over your right shoulder often is necessary. If that makes you uncomfortable, then check out the other lovely Tuonos in the Bay Area! 4) Not to discriminate, but if you’re smaller than I am then this bike will probably overwhelm you (unless you happen to be Dani Pedrosa or whatever). There are plenty of better fitting bikes TR has to offer that will surely whet your whistle. 5) She does have cruise control so touring is possible in theory, but I'd suggest getting an actual touring bike for that purpose. Your body (and wallet) will thank me later. A couple days of moderate riding should be okay, but Iron Butt enthusiasts need not apply. May I introduce you to the Honda Goldwing instead? 6) As you can clearly see by the enormous chicken strips, I have not done this bike any justice whatsoever since acquiring it. No canyons. No track days. YET. At least, that's what I keep telling myself. So by all means push the bike a little if it's within your capabilities. Open it up on the freeway. Just don't ride beyond your limits and the road's condition is all I'm saying. 7) Even though there are louder exhausts out there, she's still a bit loud. I suggest ear plugs or noise-cancelling earbuds. My neighbors aren't very happy and everyone may hate you, but at least you'll be having fun!

The bike is flashed so it is all sport bike! Nice ride, so I took her to Josie's Hideout in SD and back, so nice!

Aren it's a super chill guy. He had the bike ready, warmed up, and waiting for my ride! Bike was cleaned, aired up, and ready to go.

This bike can only be described as pure, effortless power. The delivery of the engine is smooth and torque is readily available across the entire rev-range. On straight stretches of road I found myself accelerating to troubling speeds without even realizing it. The electronics do keep the power within reasonable limits, though, which makes this bike ok to ride even for a rider with relatively modest experience like myself. Another highlight is the gearbox and quick-shifter which is incredibly smooth. Each gear change is accompanied by a very cool popping or barking sound from the engine. Avoid using the quick-shifter for low revs (under 3000rpms) — you might hit neutrals when going from 2nd to 1st, for example. The riding position is quite aggressive for a naked bike. Still comfortable, but you should plan on stretching when you stop if you want to do day-long riding. The upside of this riding position is that there's nothing obstructing your view and the only thing you see is the horizon whooshing towards you :). Make sure you find roads with less car traffic where you can open the throttle up — this bike does not like to be lugged at low speeds.

Aren was great during the entire process. He gave me an exhaustive rundown of the bike and its quirks plus tips on how to make my ride more comfortable and fun. He was only a text away during the entire trip, just in case I had any questions while on the road. We ended up having a nice chat on motorcycling when I returned the bike at the end of the day. I highly recommend renting from Aren should you have the chance to do so!

This bike is immaculate and the owner, Aren, is a top bloke. I had an absolute blast and did some 400 miles on the bike, down the California coast and back. The bike went well, didn't miss a beat the whole way and is fun to run up through the gears; it accelerates hard and is easy to ride. Highly recommended, if you like European sport bikes.

Aren is a very well organised, meticulous person. He has everything ready to go and clearly has a great passion for motorcycling and for his Aprilia. I really enjoyed meeting him and sharing stories about our bike history. He was responsive to text messages and helped answer little questions I had. The location of his house is also very convenient and no trouble to get to from SFO.
