The Ducati Monster is one of motorcycling’s great success stories: a raw, minimalist machine that didn’t just redefine Ducati, it rescued it. Introduced in the 1993 as a so-called “parts-bin special,” the original Monster combined an existing air-cooled v-twin engine, a steel trellis frame, and leftover components into a stripped-back naked bike that was cheap to build and wildly appealing. That simplicity proved genius: while Ducati’s superbikes grabbed headlines, the Monster sold in huge numbers, at one point accounting for over half of the company’s global sales and providing the financial lifeline that kept the brand alive. Over the decades, the formula has evolved, but the essence remains—and with well over 350,000 units sold globally, the Monster stands as Ducati’s most iconic and commercially successful model line. The 1200S sits at the top of the Monster hierarchy. Powered by a 1,198cc Testastretta 11° L-twin, it delivers 145 horsepower and 92 lb-ft of torques into an upright, street-focused package. Öhlins suspension front and rear, Brembo M50 radial brakes, a single-sided swingarm, and a lightweight trellis frame all combine to deliver sharp handling and unmistakable Italian character. Advanced electronics, including riding modes, traction control, ABS, and a TFT display, add a modern edge to what is still, at heart, a visceral, mechanical riding experience. This particular machine features a Shift Tech silencer, which elevates the L-twin soundtrack to truly eargasmic levels. A Quad Lock handlebar mount is included to keep your phone fully visible during the ride (renter must supply their own mating Quad Lock piece). Twenty-two years after its introduction, this 2015 Monster 1200S does not lose sight of its origins. It is still a hooligan machine built around a big L-twin and a minimalist ethos, just elevated with decades of engineering refinement (such as water cooling and a wet clutch). From a scrappy “bitsa” that saved a struggling company to a flagship naked sport machine, the Monster remains Ducati distilled: aggressive, stylish, and unapologetically focused on the thrill of the ride. The result is a motorcycle more than happy commuting around town (especially in Urban mode), carving the canyons, or pulling the front wheel at will.

Trevor was great! Took the time to go over everything on the bike and ensure I was comfortable. Suggested some fantastic roads in the area which we enjoyed. All in all a positive experience. Highly recommended!
